Lamps and Things is based in the beautiful coastal town of Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa.  Our passion for lighting began in the early 90’s where our handcrafted lamps and shades were made from the indigenous yellow wood found in the Knysna forests.  We have subsequently moved towards a broader industrial theme, using pre-manufactured components of cast iron and steel.  

These handcrafted “Industrial themed” items are rugged, tooled and made with mass produced components. This contributes towards slight blemishes such as tool marks, vague discolouration and even engineer’s blue being visible on occasion. These imperfections are seen to enhance the theme and are not considered to be flaws. Our products are made to order, handcrafted and each one – unique.
